Connect knowledge to an agent
Connect knowledge to an agent in Nuteq by opening its Knowledge setting and checking every source it should search when answering questions.

In Nuteq, connecting knowledge to an agent tells that agent which sources it's allowed to search when it answers a caller or texter's question. Adding a source to Knowledge is not enough on its own. An agent only uses the sources you've checked for it, and the same source can serve more than one agent at a time.
Before you start
Add at least one source in Knowledge before you connect it, since an agent with nothing checked cannot answer from your knowledge base at all. See Upload a document, Add a website, or Add text or an FAQ if you haven't added one yet. Only owners and admins can change which sources an agent uses.
Steps
First, add at least one source in Knowledge, such as a document, website, or written text. Second, open the agent from Agents and go to its Knowledge setting, labeled Answer Questions in the editor. Third, check the box next to each source this agent should use to answer questions. Fourth, click Save to store the change, since it doesn't apply until you save it.
Best practices
Connect only the sources that are relevant to what this agent handles, since an agent that covers a different part of your business doesn't need every source checked. The Knowledge page shows how many agents are connected to each source in its Agents column, so you can see at a glance whether a source is in use anywhere. Revisit this setting whenever you add a new source, because Nuteq does not connect a new source to your existing agents on its own.
Troubleshooting
If the Knowledge setting shows nothing to pick from, add a source first from the Knowledge page. The panel links there directly when the list is empty. If Save appears to do nothing, confirm you're signed in as an owner or admin, since members can view this setting but cannot change it.

Frequently asked questions
- Why can't my agent answer from a source I already added?
- A source has to be connected to the agent before it can use it. Open the agent's Knowledge setting, labeled Answer Questions, and check the box next to that source, then save.
- Can more than one agent use the same knowledge source?
- Yes. The Knowledge page shows how many agents are connected to each source in the Agents column, and one source can serve every agent in your workspace at once.
- Who can change which sources an agent uses?
- Only owners and admins can connect or remove a knowledge source from an agent. Other team members can see the setting but cannot change it.
