Update or remove a source
Update or remove a knowledge source in Nuteq from the Knowledge page by replacing a file, deleting a row, or clearing several at once.
By Nuteq TeamPublished 1 min read
In Nuteq, you update a knowledge source when its content changes, and you remove one when it no longer applies. Both actions happen from the Knowledge page, next to the source itself. Updating keeps the source's connections to your agents in place, while removing it deletes the source entirely.
Before you start
Replace only works for uploaded documents and written text sources, and only once a source shows Ready. Website imports and FAQ sources don't have a Replace option. To update a website, import it again as described in Add a website; to update an FAQ, edit or delete the question and answer pair directly. Deleting a source removes it right away, with no confirmation step, so double check you've selected the correct row before you click delete.
Steps
First, open Knowledge from the dashboard. Second, to update a document or text source, click Replace next to it, choose a corrected Markdown or Word file, and click Replace again to confirm. Third, to remove a source, click the trash icon on its row, or check the boxes next to several sources and click Delete Selected to remove them all at once. Fourth, confirm the source no longer appears in the list.
Best practices
Prefer Replace over deleting and re-adding a source whenever the underlying content just needs a correction, since Replace keeps the source connected to whichever agents already use it. Deleting a source and creating a new one breaks that connection, so you'd have to reconnect it under Connect knowledge to an agent afterward. Before deleting several sources at once with Delete Selected, check the list carefully, since the action can't be undone.
Troubleshooting
If the Replace button doesn't appear next to a source, it's either a website or FAQ source, or it's still uploading or processing; see Check processing status for what each status means. If you delete a source by mistake, add it again the same way you originally created it, then reconnect it to any agent that needs it.

Frequently asked questions
- Does replacing a document keep it connected to the same agents?
- Yes. Replace uploads a new file into the same source, so any agent already connected to it stays connected. Deleting and re-adding a source does not carry that connection over.
- Can I replace a website import or an FAQ source?
- No. Replace only appears for uploaded documents and written text. To update a website, import it again. To update an FAQ, edit or delete the question and answer pair directly.
- Is there a confirmation step before a source is deleted?
- No. Clicking delete removes the source right away, so make sure you've selected the right one first. There's no undo once it's gone.
