Voice and language settings

Voice and language settings: choose your agent's voice, the languages it understands, how fast it talks, and its start message.

The voice and language settings decide how your agent sounds on every call and text. You pick a voice from a catalog and choose the languages the agent understands. You also set how fast it speaks and write its opening message.

What you can set

The Voice and language section of the agent editor has five settings. They save together.

SettingWhat it does
Main languageThe language the agent speaks and listens in by default.
Additional languagesUp to three more languages a caller can use. The agent replies in the language the caller uses.
VoiceThe voice from Nuteq AI's catalog that speaks the agent's replies.
PaceHow fast the voice speaks.
Start messageThe first thing a caller hears or a texter reads.

Choose a voice

Nuteq AI has ready-made voices for each language. Pick one from the catalog. Each voice card has a short description, such as a warm tone for reception and support. You can play a preview before you choose.

Each voice has a gender. Your voice choice sets the agent's gender. There is no separate gender or pronoun control.

If you change the main language, the catalog shows the voices for that language. Pick again from that list.

Set the main language and add more

Choose the main language from the list of supported languages. Under it, the "Also understands" section adds up to three more languages. When a caller speaks one of them, the agent replies in that language. The caller does not need to ask or change a setting.

Add a language from the "Add language" list. You can remove one at any time. Removing an additional language does not affect the main language.

Set the pace

Pace changes how fast the voice speaks. It does not change what the agent says.

  • Relaxed. The slowest. It gives callers more time for each sentence. It suits unfamiliar terms and callers who prefer an unhurried call.
  • Normal. The everyday speed. Most businesses should start here.
  • Brisk. The fastest. It suits a busy front desk where callers know what they want.

You can change the pace at any time.

Write the start message

The start message is the greeting at the start of every call or text conversation. It is often a caller's first impression of your business.

  • Write it as plain text, as you would write a line for a receptionist.
  • Keep it short. For example, state the business name and ask how you can help.
  • Write it in the main language. Nuteq AI does not translate it. Keep it simple if your callers speak several languages.

The message plays in the voice and pace you chose. Listen to it again after you change either one.

Save your changes

Use the Save button at the bottom of the section. Nothing applies until you click it, so you can try voices and speeds first. After you save, the change applies to every new call and text at once.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to pick a new voice if I change the agent's main language?
Yes. Each voice in the catalog belongs to one language. When you change the main language, Nuteq AI suggests a default voice. You can choose a different voice from that language's catalog.
Can I choose the agent's gender separately from its voice?
No. Nuteq AI has no gender or pronoun setting. Each voice has a gender, so your voice choice sets the agent's gender.
How many languages can one agent understand?
One main language and up to three additional languages. A caller can speak any of them. The agent replies in the language the caller uses.
Does changing the speaking pace change what the agent says?
No. Pace changes only how fast the voice talks. Choose relaxed, normal, or brisk. The words and the start message stay the same.
