# Register your business to send texts

Text message registration is the carrier check every US business must pass before its Nuteq number can send texts, and Nuteq files it for you.

In Nuteq, text message registration is the one-time check US mobile carriers require before any business can send text messages from a regular phone number. Nuteq handles the technical filing for you, but the business details in it have to come from you and have to be exact.

## Why this exists

US carriers block texts from unregistered business numbers to cut down on spam and scam texts. Registering tells carriers who your business is and what kind of texts your agent sends, which is what earns your numbers the right to send. It's a one-time registration for your whole business, not something you repeat per number.

## What you need to provide

Start registration from Connections, on the Phone tab. First, you enter your business details, your legal company name, EIN, and street address, and these have to match your IRS EIN letter (form CP-575) exactly, including things like "Street" versus "St." A PO box isn't accepted as an address. Second, once your business is verified, you describe what your agent texts about and how customers agree to receive texts, along with a couple of sample messages. Carriers review this before approving your number to send.

## What happens after you submit

Each stage is reviewed by the carriers in turn: your business details first, then what you send. You'll see the status update in Connections as it moves through review, and Nuteq emails you when it changes. Most stages take minutes to a couple of business days. Once everything is approved, every US number in your account is linked to the approved registration automatically, so you don't have to repeat this for each number you add later.

## If something is rejected

Carriers most often reject a registration over a small mismatch, a business name that doesn't match public records, or sample messages that don't match the description you gave. Connections shows you the specific reason and lets you fix the details and resubmit. If you run out of resubmit attempts, or the carrier's reason isn't something you can fix yourself, [contact support](/docs/help/contact-support) and the team will take it from there.
